A scholarship recipient shared her aspirations for pursuing advanced studies abroad at the Delta Electronics Foundation's Environmental Scholarship Awards Ceremony.
On July 28th, the Delta Electronics Foundation held its 2026 Environmental Scholarship Awards Ceremony, recognizing seven outstanding master's students. The recipients will pursue advanced studies in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, two countries with extensive experience in sustainable development. They will specialize in environmental science, energy transition, and global strategy while gaining international perspectives to help address future sustainability challenges.
Now in its 21st year, the Delta Environmental Scholarship Program has supported more than 150 graduate students and young scholars. Many alumni are making meaningful contributions across government, academia, industry, and NGOs.
The 2026 awards ceremony was held at the Delta Ruey Kuang 8K Theater in Taipei and brought together long-standing partners of the scholarship program, including Mr. Hamish Rea, Deputy Director Political of the British Office Taipei; Ms. Marielle Lagers, Executive Director of the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency; and Chi-Chao Wan, Secretary-General of the K. T. Li Foundation for Development of Science and Technology. The guests congratulated the recipients and offered words of encouragement.
The Delta Electronics Foundation awarded its 2026 Environmental Scholarships to seven master's students. “With the emergence of a potential super El Niño, the likelihood of extreme weather events, including heavy rainfall, droughts, and heat waves, is increasing significantly,” said Wim Chang, CEO of the Delta Electronics Foundation. “Advancing sustainability and climate adaptation requires not only technological innovation, but also a people-centered approach. Technology is a powerful tool for addressing climate risks and strengthening resilience, but it is people who turn innovation into lasting value. ”
Through the Environmental Scholarship Program, the Foundation hopes to nurture young leaders with technological expertise, interdisciplinary perspectives, and international perspectives, empowering them to tackle sustainability challenges and help build a more sustainable future for Taiwan.
Over the past 21 years, the Delta Electronics Foundation's Environmental Scholarship Program has supported more than 100 graduate students and young faculty members, fostering environmental sustainability across diverse sectors.
Currently, the Delta Foundation offers two types of environmental scholarships:
•The “Delta Netherlands Environmental Scholarship,” established 21 years ago, attracted a number of 64 applicants this year, with five master’s candidates (Mei-Shu Huang, Eru Chiang, Yen-Chieh Lin, Jia-Fang Lee, and Tzu-Chiao Yin) selected.
•The “Delta Chevening Climate Scholarship,” a 18-year partnership with the British Office Taipei, received around 70 applications this year, with two scholars (I-Ting Wu and Shyuan-Yih Fang) selected.
