To promote issues of nature, biodiversity loss, and climate change, Delta makes use of films to exert the impacts. We organized events, such as nature documentaries live in concert and screening, where thousands of people would perceive the bond and be inspired to take action.
BBC's Nature Documentary Series Live in Concerts (2021-2022)
In 2021, Delta held the first live concert for the epic nature documentary Blue Planet II from BBC. The event used an ultra-high-definition 8K laser projector to project a selection of Blue Planet II onto an 800-inch screen, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in the new underwater world. It was a zero-carbon concert, with an audience of over 3,500 people.
Continuing the momentum generated by the BBC Blue Planet II Live in Concert, we cooperated with BBC again in 2022, holding another live concert for Planet Earth II. Along with the renowned music from Hans Zimmer, the musical performance not only amazed the audience with its audio-visual effects but also brought people an immersive experience of the beauty and magnificence of Mother Earth.
The Delta Film Festival (2022-Present)
In 2022, the Foundation launched a new environmental initiative, the Delta Earth Film Festival. From March to September, the Festival screened two epic BBC eco-films, Blue Planet II and Planet Earth II, together with two of Delta's award-winning environmental documentaries, Life in the Coral Reefs and Swimming with Humpback Whale, at venues and campuses.
Using Delta's world-leading 8K laser projectors, the Festival hoped to bring the public's attention to the impact of climate change. Some sessions also offered post-screening sharing from Wild View Nature Communication Society and Future Earth, leading the general public to understand the issues highlighted in the documentary.
Since July 2023, Delta has additionally cooperated with Wildscreen, a conversation charity connecting creatives in the wildlife film, television, and photography industry with conservationists, to display a series of authorized nature documentaries in 4K resolution in multiple counties and cities. This "Nurturing Life on the Earth" film festival and tour will last until the spring period of 2024.
Coupled with Delta's 8K projection technology, the festival navigates the
visitors through the natural world with an aim to raise public awareness about biodiversity issues. The documentaries screened at the festival included After the Wildfire, Path of the Panther, Frozen Planet II: Our Frozen Planet, Chasing the Rains, Ireland's Wild Islands, and A Perfect Planet: Humans.
Designated as the "Nature Positive Partner", Delta also supported the 2nd Ecological and Environmental Film Festival, which encouraged filmmakers to delve into 8K/4K production on biodiversity issues through awarding. Powered by Delta's 8K projection technology, the award-winning films offered audiences a true-to-life experience of natural beauty, including the delicate wings of butterflies and the majestic presence of whales. The film festival also featured panel discussions and sharing hosted by climate experts, bringing not just a visual feast, but also knowledge of climate change and biodiversity, to the general populace.
Life in the Coral Reefs recorded the beauty of the vibrant coral ecosystem in Palau.
Swimming with Humpback Whale commissioned by Delta vividly and realistically captured how humpback whales raise their next generation with the 8K ultra-high-definition technology.
Water with Life was sponsored by Delta and filmed by Japan's NHK Enterprises to evoke people's awareness of water resources.
